Is Ice Castles Wheelchair Accessible?
The walking surface at Ice Castles is made up of crushed ice and snow. This creates conditions similar to that of a sandy or gravelly beach where some places are compact and others are several inches thick of ice/snow. Weather conditions affect the walking surface, and our crews work hard to ensure walking surfaces are not slippery.
Guests with mobility disabilities will want to carefully consider the best way to experience Ice Castles. The bumpy, uneven surface could cause pain if an individual has a sensitivity to a bumpy ride, and pushing wheeled means of transport through the walking surface is extremely difficult and takes a lot of effort.
Ice Castles allows all guests who are able to safely navigate inside Ice Castles. We recommend that one member of the party inspect the ground conditions inside Ice Castles before entering with the guest who has mobility disabilities. Our policy is that all guests with at least one member of their party in a wheelchair may be offered a refund, or if they want to attempt to explore Ice Castles, they must do so at their own risk.
Sleds may be used instead of a wheelchair and may be easier to use within Ice Castles. Sleds are not provided by Ice Castles. All guests wishing to use a sled must bring one that is suitable for the age and weight of the member in their party who will use it. If using a sled, the wheelchair or the guest must be transferred in and out of the ice sled and pulled around inside Ice Castles by members of the guest’s party and not by Ice Castles employees. We recommend a minimum of two people to assist with the transfer.
All Ice Castles locations have designated parking spots near the entrance for guests with an ADA pass. Guests who do not have a pass may be dropped off at the entrance and/or picked up at the exit, if they choose.
